That Was Summer

Do you remember,
When you were camping in the backyard?
The cat jumped up and scared you so badly,
That you ran inside as fast as a moving bullet.
That was summer.

Do you remember,
Going on the blow up waterslide?
You put too much dishwashing liquid on,
And the waterslide was so slippery that you fell off.
That was summer.

Do you remember,
Playing on the trampoline?
You were jumping with your little sister and friends.
You were so happy.
That was Summer.

Do you remember,
Going inside and flopping on the couch?
Asking your parents for a ice cream but they said no,
Because you’d already had one that day.
That was summer.

Do you remember,
Swimming at the beach?
You forgot your goggles but you went into the water anyway.
When you came out you had red stinging eyes.
That was summer.

Remember,
Going to Jellie Park with your friend and mum?
They dared you to jump off the diving board.
It was the scariest thing you’d ever done,
But you did it anyway!
That was summer.
